The group is looking to break another record this year in the name of charity. Between September 26th and October 3rd, the band will be auctioning off the once in a lifetime opportunity for the highest bidding fan to join them at 30,000 feet in the air to witness a recordbreaking live recording session and a mile high karaoke party afterwards to celebrate. The auction, which is being held on Ebay, will allow the winning bidder to fly with the band from Los Angeles to Australia on October 6th, then to Melbourne on the 8th where they will spend the day and prepare for a special flight aboard a custom equipped Virgin Blue private jet set for Perth, Australia. Here, the winning bidder will watch the band attempt to break the world record for highest live performance and highest ever recorded track. After that bit of business, the fan will get to rock out with the band in what may just be the first ever Hip Hop, mile high karaoke session. While singing flight attendants are no stranger to the friendly skies, live band karaoke 30,000 feet up is a novel thing. Why auction off a seat on the band’s cushy party jet? Well it’s for charity of course. According to the band, 100% of the proceeds from the Ebay auction will benefit the Telethon Institute for Child Health Research in Western Australia. According to the Institute’s website, the organization specializes in international projects and research that benefit children’s mental and physical well-being. Tackling problems such as childhood, cancer, asthma, allergies and disability, the center focuses a lot on the health of the local aboriginal population, which is often plagued by higher rates of SIDS, infectious diseases and emotional and behavioral problems. The winning bidder will also get to accompany the band on “holiday” for two nights in Perth leading up to the band’s performance there as part of its “The E.N.D. Hip Hop foursome made history this year by being the first to Top the Billboard’s Hot 100 Singles charts with two or more singles for 12 weeks. Their hook-laden singles “I Gotta Feeling” and “Boom Boom Pow” have been on the charts for over 25 consecutive weeks already, breaking the previous record held by Boys II Men and Mariah Carey.
