Former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich with President Barrack Obama What are we talking about? It’s a rare jewel of cyberspace. It reads like one of those crazy dreams we all have; you know, the one’s where you meet Mike Tyson in ballet class and you spend your entire dream showing him how to write poetry in iambic pentameter while George Bush Sr. is circling the studio on a unicycle. Yeah, it’s kind of like that. The truth behind the Blagojevich karaoke video that is making the rounds really isn’t that far off from this dream sequence on the ridiculousness scale, so here goes. Chicago news outlets are now reporting that former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich- whose claim to fame came when he was caught on tape trying to sell President Obama’s vacant state senate seat to the highest bidder. Since Blagojevich has been removed from office and is facing numerous federal corruption charges. This video counts as the second time Blagojevich has been caught on tape doing something criminal, this time its karaoke. Apparently, political corruption charges have made it difficult for ”Blago” – as he is called- to find steady work. That’s where a Chicago video production company comes in. Apparently, Blago was hired by the company to make an appearance at an outdoor event behind the company’s loading dock. Yes, it gets even weirder. . . Witness accounts say that the former Governor pulled up in a white Hummer limousine and he was introduced to the crowd as, er um….”The Governor of Rock and Roll.” He then started joking about being a “day laborer” with the crowd – No this is really true. Now this is the part where its going to really start sounding like an LSD-induced dream; A Fabio look-alike joins him on stage (stay with us now, we got the video to prove this), and he jokes about how Fabio needs work too because he is not doing Harlequin romances anymore (we can’t make this stuff up). Blago then proceeds to sing, karaoke-style, Elvis’s “Treat Me Nice,” complete with the Elvis bumping and grinding. This is probably the point at which an onlooker was reported as asking out loud in wonderment “ is this the sign of the apocalypse?” It just may be. . .Here it is. Can anyone say "Blagoke?"

It’s both ugly and confounding but you cannot turn away. Like approaching a massive train wreck, you know that you won’t be able to get the images you are about to see out of your head until the day you die, but you look anyway, partly out of curiosity, and maybe a little sympathy, but mostly out of that tragic human instinct to witness humanity in its most horrid form. We only hope that we will not be cursed by it or turned into a pillar of salt for the offense of looking upon it.
