Idol Producer Nigel Lythgoe let slip Monday on the set of the first "So You Think You Dance Auditions" that Idol will have online voting this season.
He was speaking to an Atlanta-Journal Constitution journalist Rodney Ho, when he said it, but it sounds as if Idol producers are still wrestling with exactly how to implement online voting, since Lythgoe's publicist later pointed out that online voting "was not a done deal."
Ho however is adamant; saying that Lythgoe told him in no uncertain terms that there would be online voting. As to whether there will be a limit on the number of times a person can cast a vote, Nigel said there shouldn't be since there isn't a limit currently for phone and text voting. Producers are still working on a scheme that would be "fair." No doubt they don't want another Idol voting catastrophe like Season 8.
