Three Season Eight Idols Get Record Deals

Three of the top four Season Eight Idol finalists have now signed a record deal with 19 Entertainment, the production company affiliated with American Idol producers. Both Kris Allen and Allison Iraheta will be signed under the Jive record label while Lambert will follow in Chris Daughtry’s footsteps and release an album under the RCA label. All three are scheduled to release their debut albums later this year. While there are few details about who they will collaborating with and how much time pressure they will be under, completing an entire album by the fall will be a daunting task for all three since the American Idol live tour will begin in early July. The noticeably absent finalist who has yet to receive a record deal is third place finalist Danny Gokey. Considered a frontrunner since before Adam Lambert or Kris Allen became household names, Gokey struggled with defining his artistry, dancing, and with fulfilling the high expectations of the judges.
