Susan Boyle; the homely housewife with the angelic voice who was discovered last April on Britain’s biggest televised talent show, is now a megastar on the top of the music charts. Her humble beginnings as a local karaoke singer are long gone. But her legacy has cast a long shadow over the humble town of Blackburn, Scotland, where she won a cheesy little karaoke trophy in 2008. As it turns out, Boyle gave her trophy to her brother, who then turned it over to a local man well-known for his charitable giving. But now that everything Boyle touches turns to solid gold, the organization that awarded her the trophy in the first place wants it back.

The town’s annual gala day organizing committee sponsors the yearly karaoke event held at the town’s bowling alley, and they say that the trophy is always returned and re-awarded to the next year’s winner, like a Miss America crown. But Peter Mulholland of the Blackburn Bowling Club says “…I have had it for a while and no one batted an eyelid.”
