Billboard is reporting that Gaga’s single “Born This Way,” from her upcoming album of the same title, has become the fastest selling single on ITunes. Just five days after being released, the song sold over 1 million copies and hit No.1 on the charts in 23 countries.

The track also made Billboard history as the 1000th No. 1 on its Hot 100 chart which began ranking pop hits in 1952. Her album is set to be released on May 23rd and the next much anticipated single from the album; “Judas,” is slated to be released at the end of April or beginning of May.

To whet the voracious appetite of the music press, Gaga has given some media outlets a sneak peek/listen at the tracks on the album; they include a song called “Hair,” which is described by CNN as a mix of Pat Benatar’s “We Belong” and the industrial metal sound of Nine Inch Nails.

Gaga will collaborate with Clarence Clemmons of the E Street Band in “Edge of Glory,” to produce what is described as “a massive power ballad” with Clemons wailing on the saxophone.

Her track “You and I,” has been a crowd favorite since she has been performing it for audiences as part of her Monsters’ Ball tour. Its piano accompaniment is a refreshing break from the heavy dance beats of many of the tracks on the album and it showcases Gaga’s really good strong voice. It is sure to be an anthem by the end of the year. Watch her perform it live on the Today Show (right).
