Robert Plant:Being a Rock Supergod; "a Pain in the Pisser" R
The Zeppelin Music Powerhouse • Zeppelin is the second best selling band of all time in the United States, only behind The Beatles. Discovering Zeppelin As much I still love Zeppelin – and they are my favorite band by a mile – I have different musical needs, so I don’t listen to them all the time like I did when I was 14, but when life gets challenging, mundane, or just a little off, listening to Zeppelin helps me to realize all that is fantastic about living. Indeed, if I found myself walking into the light, I only need the promise of one more Zeppelin tune to come back to life. There are so many out there with stories just like mine. They yearn to be a part of that mystical Zeppelin fantasy, if only just once. Maybe Robert is right; They tried to recreate Woodstock in the nineties, it didn’t work. Its true, you can never really go home again. But maybe, just maybe Robert, you could see the difference between reliving the past and just coming back for a visit. You aren’t getting any younger Robert, but music is made for reinterpretation and who wouldn’t mind hearing a mature, introspective, less manic version of Communication Breakdown. Like you said, pretty soon we are all going to need help crossing the street. What’s your Zeppelin story?

Why would the rock icon blow off what many feel is the most groundbreaking rock band in history? He says “I know people care, but think about it from my angle - soon, I'm going to need help crossing the street." He tells Rolling Stone that he is annoyed by his musical peers who do nothing more than replay their old hits. Indeed, he practices what he preaches; he has been touring recently with Alison Krauss and they enjoyed a surprise hit with their 2007 album titled “Raising Sand,” but why so quick to wave your hand at the past Robert?

An even more prescient question is why does “anyone” care if Plant never does the Zeppelin thing again? I am very much qualified to answer that; I discovered Led Zeppelin in middle school. The moment I heard the band my life became organized around when I could hear another Zeppelin song. I walked home from school crying when I learned John Bonham was dead, and Zeppelin wasn’t touring anymore. I had planned to wash cars all summer to save for a concert. Instead, I worshipped them with the same intensity that teens use text messaging today. I scowl at people who were old enough to have attended a Zeppelin concert, but not before I ask them every detail. I don’t leave my car if Stairway to Heaven is on the radio until its finished. ‘No Quarter’ is my running song, Tangerine my wedding song. I sing Whole Lotta Love at karaoke religiously (only woman I know that does). And yes, “I” have a daily Google news alert titled “Led Zeppelin Tour” so that I will be one of the first to know if dear Robert changes his mind.
